Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day,
we bow our hearts to you and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family.
For daily provision, Your mercy, and care
These are the blessings You so graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

The Only One in 35 Years

The story goes in WW II, General Patton sent a soldier to a rest camp after serving for some time. When he got back, the soldier wrote a letter to the general and thanked him for the splendid card he had received. The general wrote back, saying in 35 years, he had always tried to give his men all the comfort he could. And in 35 years, this was the first thank you letter he had received. May we always be truly thankful.

They Did Their Share

On Veteran’s Day we honor soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors, they deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted; some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday; for some it’s been many years.
In the jungle or the desert, on land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned to produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn’t. They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk; all of them did their share.
No matter what the duty-for low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives, for duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored; don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died; what they did, we can’t repay.
We owe so much to them, who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform, let’s say “thank you” to every wearer.

Thank You

We thank you Lord for all You give-the food we eat; the lives we live.
And to our loved ones far away, please send Your blessings, Lord, we pray.
And help us all to live our days, with thankful hearts and loving ways.
Amen.

Time to Chuckle!

A lady was mailing a family Bible to her brother across the country. The postal clerk asked “Is there anything breakable in here?” The lady said-only the 10 Commandments!
Once a minister was asked to Thanksgiving dinner by a member he knew was pretty unkempt at housekeeping. When he sat down to eat, he saw the dishes had grit and grime on them. “Have these dishes ever been washed” he asked. She said “they’re as clean as soap and water can get them”. He was hungry, so he ate-and the food was delicious, despite the problem. When dinner was over, the lady took the dishes outside and said “Here soap! Here water!”

When the lady came home at night, she caught a man robbing her home and said “Stop! Acts 2:38! (Look it up!) The man froze. When the officer came, he asked why the thief stopped when all she had was scripture. The robber said-“I thought she had an ax and 2 38s!”
