Who We Are

Our Vision

The Vision of Forsyth Park Baptist Church is based on the Great Commission:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

The focus is on making disciples of Christ. Forsyth Park Baptist Church is an authentic community of believers worshiping God EVERYWHERE we go, becoming more like Him EVERYDAY, and serving EVERYONE we meet.

Supporting this commitment, Forsyth Park Baptist offers prayer, worship, educational opportunities and church-wide activities that reinforce and enhance your life as a Christian.

Worshiping God EVERYWHERE

We desire to be a church worshiping God EVERYWHERE. We strive to be worshipers at home, at work, and at church. We believe it is impossible to worship God on Sunday if we are not worshiping Him the other days of the week. We believe a true disciple worships God EVERYWHERE.

Becoming more like Him EVERYDAY

True discipleship occurs in a daily journey with God. We believe EVERYDAY is an opportunity to grow in our walk with Christ. Our mission as a church is to encourage, support and strengthen a disciple’s walk with Jesus EVERYDAY.

Serving EVERYONE

We desire that Winston Salem and all the places where our members live to be the most difficult place on earth for a person to live and still go to hell. This conviction drives us to serve EVERYONE with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our desire is for EVERYONE to walk with Jesus.

Our Ministry Leaders

PASTOR

Pastor Bill Horton was born and raised in Winston-Salem. He graduated from RJ Reynolds Senior High; Wake Forest University (BA History); and UNC-Greensboro (BS Elementary Education). He also has a Master of Divinity Degree from Liberty University. Bill taught 5 th and 6 th grades in Mt Airy, NC for 10 years. He received his call to preach in January 2001 and has been preaching for the last 20 years in churches in NC; Virginia; and West Virginia. Bill is now back home in the area to stay, having bought a house in King, NC and is blessed having been called as Pastor at Forsyth Park Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.

Bill is married to his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth (Beth) Horton. They have 2 children. Benjamin (Ben) is married to Leigha, and they have 3 children. Nathan (Nate)-12 yrs old; Crystal Alexis (Lexi)-9 years old; and Brianna -5 years old. Daughter Jane is married to Jonathan Calhoun, who is serving in the Air Force. They are stationed in Las Vegas, NV. Bill and Beth both have family in the area.

Bill is conservative in his Biblical views, and believes in an inerrant; infallible; and authoritative Word of God. He believes it is the role of the pastor to preach and teach the Word of God; minister to the people; and let the Holy Spirit do the rest, such as bringing people to a saving knowledge of the Lord, and moving in their hearts to come to church to learn and grow in faith in the Lord. He is richly blessed to be called to be a servant of God and seeks only His will in his life.
