Nine Keys to Contentment

Health enough to make work a pleasure.
Wealth enough to support your needs.
Strength enough to battle with difficulties and overcome them.
Grace enough to confess your sins and forsake them.
Patience enough to toil until some good is accomplished.
Charity enough to see some good in your neighbors.
Love enough to move you to be useful and helpful to others.
Hope enough to remove all anxious fears concerning the future.

-Johann W. VonGoethe

A Moment With Him

We mutter and sputter, we fume and we spurt;
We mumble and grumble, our feelings get hurt.
We can’t understand things, our vision grows dim,
When all that we need is-a moment with Him.
-Mary Helen Anderson

Forgotten

Forgotten! No, never forgotten, not e’en one moment are we
Forgotten by Him who hath loved us, forgotten we never shall be.
Though loved ones at times may forget us
Though friends one by one may have flown,
Yet He who is faithful hath promised, He never forgetteth His own.
Forgotten! No, never forgotten, in the midst of duties and cares
He knoweth our frame, He remembers our burdens and worries He bears
Yes, even the tiniest sparrow is marked by God in its fall;
Then we whom He counts of more value shall not be forgotten at all.
Forgotten! No, never forgotten, in life’s gloomiest hours down here,
By Him we are always remembered, to His heart of love we are dear.
Forgotten! No, never forgotten, up yonder in Glory H0e stands,
And forever our names are engraven on the palms of His wounded hands.

God’s Precious Gift

Children are God’s precious gift to man. We are to love them and raise them. And when they are grown, give back to Him. When they are born they’re like a clean slate: Ready for you to write instructions; that will guide the direction they should take. For this very important task, you must get on your knees, and God’s guidance you must ask. Hug and kiss them everyday; instruct them in God’s work, and teach them to pray! Never give up when the going gets rough. Remember, they are precious lives you help shape. And for God-nothing is too tough!
-Deborah Lynn Gladwell

Chuckles

Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything-tutors, mentors, flash cards, special learning centers. In short, everything they could think of to help with his math. Finally, in a last ditch effort, they enrolled Zachary in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn’t even kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner. To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room and was hitting the books as hard as before.
This went on for a while. Then report card time came. Little Zachary had received an A in math! The mother couldn’t keep from asking. Son, what was it? Was it the nuns? Was it the books, the discipline? The structure, the uniform? To all Zachary simply answered “No”. “Then what was it?” His mother asked. Zachary said “Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign I knew they weren’t fooling around!”

Really?

The mother said “I childproof my house-but the kids still get in!”
I used to think I was indecisive. Now I’m not sure.
Two silk worms were in a race. It ended in a tie.
I went to the Air and Space museum-but there was nothing there.
Ants are so healthy because they have little anti bodies.
If a cow can’t make milk, is it an udder failure or a milk dud?
I went bald but I still kept my comb. I just can’t part with it.
