“What Am I The Most Thankful For?”
As we stop once again this time of year to count our blessings, we all need to stop and consider the things we often take for granted. We should be thankful for the very air we breathe-some countries have major pollution problems. We should be thankful for the water we have to drink. We don’t have to take the salt out first, as some coastal countries do-and for the most part, our water is clean and nourishing. We should be thankful for all the food this nation has-we realize there are some who have not, and we should all pitch in to help them-throughout the year. But may we enjoy the bounty set before us this Thanksgiving.
And speaking of that meal-for many, it is a pleasant time to get together with family and/or friends that we care about and love. But again, we realize some will not have family, and it will be just another day for them. Maybe we can invite such folks we may know to join our family. Or volunteer at a soup kitchen to feed the homeless.
And may we not take our country for granted. God has surely blessed us to be able to live in such a rich nation so that we have freedoms like few others-freedom to vote; to live where we want; to work at whatever job we like; and even to worship as we desire.
And that brings us to the things that should matter the most to us as Christians. God and His Holy Son Jesus, who died so we might live with Him. And the Holy Spirit who lives in our heart, convicting us and guiding us. We are blessed to have His Holy Word. And we are blessed that God so loved the world, He sent His one and only. Thank you-Jesus.
