Pastor’s Corner – August 2024

As I write this, the world seems to be spinning faster and faster. Tonight for only the second time in American history, a President has gone on TV and announced he is not seeking a second term in office. Whatever you think of President Biden, you have to give him credit for his over 50 years of public service, doing what he thought was right for the country he loved.
And it has been only 2 weeks since an attempt was made on the life of President Trump. Whatever you think of President Trump, there is no place in this nation for violence-political or any other kind. Dislike for a candidate is by far no excuse for what happened. Only by the grace of God was he spared.
And it appears as of this writing, 2 weeks before the Democratic Convention, that for the first time in history, a woman of color (mixed Jamaican and Indian) will be running for the highest office in the land. There is no room for name calling-which has already started-only policy debate. Anything else is not worthy of the American people.
It will take months if not years to fully take in what is happening. But we know the Bible says God is in control of whoever our governmental leaders are-and His ways are far above our ways of understanding.
Pray as we get closer to November that God will keep His hands of blessing on our country-regardless of who wins the election. May we pray for continued peace during the transition, and that God will see fit to continue to bless our nation and guide our leaders.

Pastor’s Corner – February 2025

Pastor’s Corner - February 2025 There was a song in the 70s I think, called “What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love”. It was during the tumultuous times of the 60s and 70s: Vietnam; Civil Rights Movement; Watergate. But it could be argued that we need love even...

Pastor’s Corner – January 2025

Pastor’s Corner - January 2025 When I was in school, I always liked the first day. Not to meet new teachers, or have to learn after a summer of baseball and friends. No, it was the day when you gathered all your new school supplies and headed to school. And in my...
