Blessed is the Man
Blessed is the man for whom a good woman lives, to whom his work is a pleasure, by whom his friends are encouraged, with whom others are comfortable, in whom a clear conscience abides, and through whom his children see God.
Blessed is the man whose strength is enhanced by his tenderness, whose wisdom is empowered by his faith, and whose courage is made complete by his compassion.
Blessed is the man who looks at life with joyful optimism, who listens to his children with eager attentiveness, who enriches his community with creative enthusiasm, who loves his country with grateful loyalty, and who worships his God with unswerving fidelity.
Blessed is the man who brings honor to the word “father”, who is a credit ton the word “brotherhood”, who is a quiet example of the child’s perfect image of the word “manhood’.
Blessed is the man who confidently builds bridges of understanding, who generously lightens the load of his fellow man, and who cheerfully brightens each day with words of hope, inspiration, and assurance.
Blessed is the man whom his children often say “We’re glad he’s our father”; of whom his wife often says “I’m glad he’s my husband”; of whom his parents say “We’re glad he’s our son.”

A Boy to His Dad
To get his goodnight kiss he stood beside my chair one night
And raised an eager face to me, a face with love alight.
And as I gathered in my arms the son God gave to me,
I thanked the lad for being good, and hoped he’d always be.
His little arms crept ‘round my neck, and then I heard him say
Four simple words I can’t forget, four words that made me pray.
They turned a mirror on my soul, on secrets no one knew.
They startled me, I hear them yet-He said “I’ll be like you.”

To Dad on Sunday Morning
Dad, will you go with me to Sunday School today?
For I heard a teacher say the wicked stay away.
I know you’re not a wicked man but just like all the rest.
If you’ll go with me today, I think for you it’s best.
And take mother along also, it will do her good I’m sure.
To worship God for an hour or two; her troubles will be fewer.
For me to go and you to stay just won’t seem hardly fair,
For how would Heaven look to me if you did not get there?
How can you stay home and tell me what to do?
If God has His eye on me, I’m sure He sees you too.

Now get that frown from off your face and smile while you get ready.
It will take the burden off your heart and make you strong and steady.
You’ll sleep lots better at night, too-just try it once and see
How much more you’ll love your home, and mother, and me.
You cannot live forever, Dad, you might as well admit;
So get the burden off your heart, and straighten up a bit.

When Father Prays
When father prays he doesn’t use the words the preacher does;
There’s different things for different days, but mostly it’s for us.
When father prays the house is still, his voice is slow and deep.
We shut our eyes, the clock ticks loud, so quiet we must sleep.
He prays that we may be good boys, and later on, good men.
And then we squirm, and think we won’t have any quarrels again.
You’d never think, to look at dad, he once had tempers too.
I guess if fathers need to pray, we youngsters surely do!
Sometimes the prayer gets very long and hard to understand.
And then I wiggle up, quite close, and let him hold my hand.
I can’t remember all of it, I’m little yet, you see.
But one thing I cannot forget-my father prays for me!

One-Liners For You
Some folks are like an old mule…awfully backward about going forward!
Jesus did not teach “You’ll believe it when you see it” but “You’ll see it when you believe it.”
Beware of your spiritual condition when your favorite part of service is the closing song and dismissal.
Christianity helps us face the music, even when we don’t like the tune.
Husband talking to his wife “Stick to your washing, ironing, cooking and scrubbing-no wife of mine is going to work!”

CHUCKLES
An accountant is having a hard time sleeping and goes to see his doctor. “Doctor, I just can’t sleep at night.” “Have you tried counting sheep?” The doctor asked. “That’s the problem. I make a mistake and then spend 3 hours trying to find it!”

A new soldier was on sentry duty at the main gate. His orders said no car was to enter unless it had a special sticker on the windshield. A Big army car drove up with a general in the back, but no sticker. The sentry said “Halt, who goes there”. The corporal who was driving said “General Wheeler” When told they couldn’t go through, the general said “Drive on!” The sentry walked up to the rear window and said “General, I’m new at this Do I shoot you or the driver?”
