Forsyth Park Caller

June 2025

This month we celebrate Father’s Day-Happy Father’s Day to you all.
But we also remember the Grand Old Flag-It soon will be Flag Day.
When you re-watch Yankee Doodle on the 4 th of July (the story of the
Broadway showman George M Cohan portrayed by James Cagney), we
think of the songs of Cohan-such as Grand Old Flag and Over There.
Patriotic Songs-songs that make us proud to be Americans. Over There
even ended up being the national hymn during WW I.
Over there. We thing of going over there during WW I to fight the
powers of Germany and the Austria-Hungarian Empire-a war started
over an assassination of an archduke-what even is an arch-duke? Then
we went over there again to fight the forces of the Axis Powers-
Germany, Italy and Japan. In the 5os, we were over there in Korea.
Some are still there. In the 60s and 70s Vietnam. In the 90s Desert Storm
in Iraq and Afghanistan began.
But on 9/11, the war was no longer over there. It was right here on our
own homeland. And now we see hotspots everywhere we look-North
and South Korea; China and Taiwan; Russia and Ukraine; Pakistan and
India; and Israel and Hamas. With ICBMs and more destructive power
than the world has ever known-it seems only a matter of time.
But ultimately, God has all things in the palm of His hands! He is in
control. We see in Ezekiel 38 and 39 the Ezekiel War sets the stage for
the Tribulation. 2 Thessalonians tells us of the Rapture of all Christians
and His church. Revelation paints the picture of things to come. 2 Peter
shows us instead of flood, it will be fire. A New Heaven. A New Earth.
A New Jerusalem. The prophetic timeline is all before us.

The world seems very chaotic and crazy-because it is. But once
again, the Christian needs to be ready to go to glory at a moment’s
notice. We have to “be ready to keep from getting ready!”. Our trust in
God and His Holy Word. A foundation of strong faith in place now. And
faith in Jesus Christ-all are essential to the Christian-especially today.
The song Grand Old Flag says “forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of land I love-the home of the free and the brave”.
May God continue to bless our land-from sea to shining sea. Don’t let
the news of the day make you anxious-trust in God Believe in His Holy
Word our Bible. God really does have all things under control. May we
always praise His Holy Name.

A Father is…..
Someone who is just, in a world of inequality;
Someone who is tolerant in an unforgiving society;
Someone who gives approval in a world of indifference;
Someone who encourages when self-esteem is low;
Somone who disciplines in a world of lawlessness;
Somone who loves when many hate;
A father is the foundation of society.
Honor and respect him, for he molds tomorrow’s leaders.

Dad’s Hands
Dad’s hands were king-size and strong.
With his hands, he built our home and fixed all the broken things.
Dad’s hands gave generously, served humbly, and loved mom tenderly,
unselfishly, completely, unendingly.
With his hand, Dad held me when I was small, steadied me when I
stumbled, and guided me in the right direction. When I needed help, I
could always count on Dad’s hands.
Sometimes Dad’s hands corrected me, disciplined me, shielded me,
rescued me.
Dad’s hands protected me.
Dad’s hands held mine when he walked me down the aisle. His hand
gave me to my forever love, who not surprisingly, is very much like dad.
Dad’s hands were the instruments of his great big, rugged tender heart.
Dad’s hands were strength.
Dad’s hands were strong.
With his hands, he praised God.
And he prayed to the Father with those big hands.
Dad’s hands. They were like Jesus’ hands to me.

Blessings
So many of life’s little blessings today will come unnoticed and slip
away
While we continue to grumble and fuss-ignoring the God who gave them
to us.
How much happier our lives would be, if instead of complaining, we’d
stop and see
The numerous blessings He gives us each day, which lightens our
burdens and brighten our way.

CHUCKLES
Jill’s car was unreliable and she kept telling her husband John about it.
When he would drive it, it seemed just fine. So he dismissed it, thinking
she was exaggerating. Then he got a call. Hi honey, John heard. “My
brakes went out. Can you come and get me?” he said “Where are you?”
“I’m in the drugstore” she said. “He asked “where is the car?” She said
“It’s in here with me.”

Having lost weight over the last few years, a lady was getting some
things that no longer fit. Her 7yr old niece was watching as she held up a
huge pair of Capri pants. “Wow” the lady said, “I must have worn those
when I was 183!” Her niece looked puzzled and said “How old are you
now?”

Pastor’s Corner – March 2025

Pastor’s Corner - March 2025 I am currently listening to the song “Sweet Land of Rest”. It says there’s a land where joy is waiting, far beyond all space and time. It continues “there will be no separation; no more pain; no sad good-byes. One day all is matchless...

Pastor’s Corner – February 2025

Pastor’s Corner - February 2025 There was a song in the 70s I think, called “What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love”. It was during the tumultuous times of the 60s and 70s: Vietnam; Civil Rights Movement; Watergate. But it could be argued that we need love even...

Pastor’s Corner – January 2025

Pastor’s Corner - January 2025 When I was in school, I always liked the first day. Not to meet new teachers, or have to learn after a summer of baseball and friends. No, it was the day when you gathered all your new school supplies and headed to school. And in my...
