The Fourth of July

It’s time again to fly our flag, with much respect and pride;
It is our country’s birthday, this the fourth of July!
As we enjoy the fireworks, the picnics, and parades;
Let us reflect on all the things that make our country great.
Is it those rights we cherish, the freedoms we enjoy;
Equality in law-that’s guaranteed to ever girl and boy?
The answer’s YES for most of us not all-of that I’m sure.
For many in our country still suffering to endure.
The many that are hated because they don’t fit in,
Cause they have different customs, or for the color of their skin.
Yet, we are all Americans, from every walk of life;
Claiming equal and fair treatment; protection from all strife.
We’re in this land together, we’re brothers, sisters, all;
United we’ll attain great goals-divided we shall fall!
So, on our country’s birthday, let’s pledge for all to see;
We’ll strive to work together in peace and harmony!
Our future will be brighter; God bless us, I do pray.
And with one voice now let us sing-Happy Birthday, USA!

A Prayer for Healing Our Country

“To preserve our blessed land we must look to God…It is time to realize that we need God more than He needs us…We also have His promise that we could take to heart with regard to our country, that “If My people, which are called by My Name shall humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Let us, young and old, join together, as did the First Continental Congress, in the first step, in humble, heartfelt prayer. Let us do so for the love of God and His great goodness, in search of His guidance and the grace of repentance, in seeking His blessings, His peace, and the resting of His kind and holy hands on ourselves, our nation, our friends in the defense of freedom, and all mankind, now and always.
The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America…Our country is in need of and ready for a spiritual renewal. Today, we utter no prayer more fervently than the ancient prayer for peace on Earth. If I had a prayer for you today, among those that have all been uttered, it is that one we’re so familiar with: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace…” And God bless you all.” -Ronald Reagan 2/6/86

Summer Melody

“A garden’s such a wonderful thing, it makes the gardener want to sing
A song of praise for sun and showers, a song of joy for fruit and flowers.
A song that sings of honeybees, delicious spuds and early peas.
A song that sings of butter beans, and lettuce leaves for wilted greens.
A song that always ends in prayer-“Thank you God, for miracles there.”

Chuckles

Mrs. Smart was fumbling in her purse for an offering when a TV remote control fell out and clattered onto the aisle. The curious usher leaned over, picked it up and said “Do you always carry your TV remote to church?” The lady said “No, but my husband refused to come with me this morning and this is the most evil thing I could do to him legally!”
Mr. Green peered over the fence and noticed that the neighbor’s little boy was in the backyard filling up a hole. Curious about what the boy was up to he said “What are you doing Jimmy?” Tearfully, the boy said “My goldfish died, and I’ve just buried him.” Mr Green said “That’s a mighty big hole for a goldfish, isn’t it?” Jimmy said ‘That’s because he’s in your cat!”
Little Philip was walking home with his mother from church when they saw a rainbow in the sky. “I’ll bet God painted that just for you, Philip!” Philip said “He had to do it left handed!” the mother said “Why do you say that?” He said “the Sunday School teacher said Jesus sits on God’s right hand!”

Pastor’s Corner - January 2024 Yes, Thanksgiving and Christmas have come and gone. The holidays and their joy have begun to fade away from memory. Suddenly, winter has come. The cold has come, and now we are in the midst of the bleakness of winter. But even in the...

Pastor’s Corner – November 2023

Pastor’s Corner - November 2023 Recently, I have been doing some sermons about God’s Chosen people-the Jews. And we are also finishing a study on Daniel in Bible Study-preceded by a study on Revelation. All of this seems to be tying together along with current events....
