Its Christmas Time Again
Put your problems on probation, run your troubles off the track, Throw your worries out the window, get the monkeys off your back.
Silence all your inner critics, with your conscience make amends, And allow yourself some happiness-Its Christmas time again! Call a truce with those that bother you, let the fighting cease, Give your differences a breather, and declare a time of peace. Don’t let angry feelings taint, the precious time you have to spend, And allow yourself some happiness-Its Christmas time again! Like some cool refreshing water, or a gentle summer breeze, Like a fresh bouquet of flowers, or the smell of autumn leaves. It’s a banquet of the spirit, filled with family, food and friends, So allow yourself some happiness-Its Christmas time again!
A Christmas Flower
The poinsettia, which has been known as the Christmas flower, was discovered in Mexico in 1928 by Dr. Joel Poinsett. He sent cuttings to Robert Buist, a botanist in Philadelphia, who sent specimens to Edinburgh, Scotland. When Poinsett visited John C. Fremont in California he likely introduced the flower. The people of Mexico and Central America call it “Flor de La Noche Buena”, or “Flower of the Holy Night”, because it reaches full bloom at Christmas.
Christmas Cards
I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book, And every year at Christmas time I go and take a look. And that is when I realize that these names are a part, Not of the book they’re written in, but in my very heart. For each name stands for someone, who touched mine and then, Left a print of friendship, that I want to touch again. And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim, I really feel I am composed of each remembered name. And while you may not be aware of any special link, Just meeting you shaped my life more than you think. For once, you’ve met someone, the years cannot erase, The memory of a pleasant word or a friendly face. So never think my Christmas cards are just a mere routine, Of names upon a Christmas list, forgotten in between. For when I send a Christmas card, that is addressed to you, It’s because you’re on that list of folks I am indebted to. And every year when Christmas comes, I realize anew, The biggest gift life can give is meeting folks like you. And may the Spirit of Christmas that forever, and ever endures, Leave its richest blessing on the heart of you and yours.
Chuckles
An elementary school teacher went to her school principal and asked for some money for “behavior modification reinforcers”. The principal said “what in heaven’s name is that?” The teacher replied “lollipops”.
The owner of a small village drugstore was called out one sleepy summer morning, leaving the store under the sole
management of a very young, and very uneducated, clerk. “Just answer the phone if it rings, Jim” said the owner. The phone soon rang. “Hello” said Jim. “Do you have streptomycin and aureomycin?” asked a voice on the other end. The young man scratched his head and said “Ma’am, when I said “hello” I told you everything I know!”
Two men were discussing their ambitions and goals in life one day. One man said “I just want to do something that will be long-remembered and talked about constantly.” The other man said “That’s easy! Just forget your wife’s birthday!”
